The park gets its name from the Tarangire River that runs through the park. Tarangire National Park is famous for its large number of elephants and the majestic Baobab trees. During the dry season, the river is the primary source of water for wild animals. It provides water for many wildebeests, zebras, giraffes and buffalos.
